However, his life took a tragic turn in October 2021 when he was involved in a double homicide.

Background and Personal Life

Ali Abulaban was married to Ana Abulaban, and they had a young daughter together. Ali and his wife, Ana, met while both were serving in the Air Force in Okinawa, Japan. However, Ali was discharged from the Air Force after allegedly assaulting a friend of Ana's. The couple's relationship was reportedly tumultuous, with allegations of domestic violence and infidelity. The Incident

On October 21, 2021, Ali Abulaban shot and killed his estranged wife, Ana Abulaban, and her friend, Rayburn Cardenas Barron, in their apartment in San Diego. According to prosecutors, Ali had been stalking Ana and suspected her of having an affair. He installed a listening device on his daughter's iPad to spy on Ana.

On the day of the murders, Ali allegedly heard Ana and Rayburn talking through the listening device. He then went to the apartment and shot Rayburn three times before shooting Ana in the head. After the shootings, Ali called his mother and confessed to the killings, even sending her a photograph of the victims' bodies.

Legal Proceedings

Ali Abulaban was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, using a firearm, and a special circumstance charge for killing multiple people. During the trial, he confessed to the murders, citing jealousy and rage as his motives. The jury found him guilty of all charges in May 2024.

Ali Nasser Abulaban was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The court found him guilty of two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances for committing multiple murders.
