On May 7, 2008, during an argument at his girlfriend's apartment, General Lee Waiters fired a gun five times, killing 4yo Tajmere Clark and injuring Mary Lee Clark, Lorenzo Warren, and Shatashia Lewis. After a jury trial, on June 2, 2008, the defendant was convicted of murder in the second degree with respect to Tajmere Clark, attempted murder in the second degree with respect to Lorenzo Warren, and assault in the first degree with respect to Mary Lee Clark (count four) and Shatashia Lewis (count five). Upon sentencing the defendant, the Supreme Court ordered that all of the sentences run consecutively.i

Three-year old Tajmere was playing with other children at the home of her grandmother when she was shot. Thirty-year old General Lee (Bubba) Waiters, enraged when people complained about his drinking after a birthday party held in his honor, pulled out a handgun and began shooting. Tajmere was killed instantly, while three others were shot and critically wounded, including Tajmere's grandmother. Waiters was disarmed by other people on the scene and was taken to hospital to recover from injuries sustained during the scuffle. He was charged with Tajmere's deathi, found guilty of multiple charges, and sentenced to an indeterminate term of 25 years to life imprisonment.
