Background Information
Cimarron Bernard Bell is an American serial killer who was convicted for the murders of his girlfriend, Ineka Edmondson, and three other men—Mario Larios, Edgar Valles, and Fernando Pina. These murders were committed during separate incidents in 2003 and 2004 in California. Bell was born on April 7, 1974, and worked as a janitor at the Morgan Metals industrial park in La Habra at the time of the crimes.
Murders Committed
The first murder occurred on November 11, 2003, when Bell shot his girlfriend Edmondson three times in the head after suspecting her of reporting him to the police regarding a check-cashing scheme they were involved in. Following this incident, Bell conspired with an accomplice named Briaell Michael Lee to lure unsuspecting victims to his home under false pretenses. On January 27, 2004, they targeted Larios, Valles, and Pina by offering to sell them a modified Chevrolet Monte Carlo for $8,500—a price significantly lower than its market value.
Once the victims arrived at Bell’s residence in South Whittier, they were ambushed and shot to death by both Bell and Lee. To conceal their crimes, the bodies were hidden inside a Mercedes-Benz that belonged to one of the victims. The bodies were discovered days later when a passerby noticed a foul odor emanating from the vehicle.
Arrest and Trial
Bell’s arrest came about after another girlfriend was arrested for credit card fraud and informed authorities about his admissions regarding the murders. He was subsequently charged with multiple counts of murder. During his trial, which lasted several months, he pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of all four murders on April 19, 2011. The jury also recognized special circumstances such as multiple murders and murder for financial gain.
On that same day, he was sentenced to death for his crimes. His co-defendant Lee faced lesser charges; he was convicted of second-degree murder for his role in the killings and received a sentence of 40 years to life in prison.
Current Status
As of now (January 21, 2025), Cimarron Bernard Bell remains on death row awaiting execution. He has made numerous attempts to appeal his sentence; however, these efforts have been unsuccessful thus far.
