The trial began in
May 2018, and after ten days, a Travis County jury found Parlin
guilty on all charges. The jury reached a verdict in less than three
hours, sentencing him to life in prison without the possibility of
parole. The prosecution produced evidence, including Parlin's
confessions and remarks about organizing the burglaries and murders.
The defense asserted Parlin's innocence, arguing that he was not the
perpetrator of the murders.
Shawn Gant-Benalcazar,
Parlin's accomplice, also faced accusations related to the murders.
His trial resulted in a mistrial, but he was later convicted. The
First Court of Appeals in Houston upheld Parlin's conviction in
November 2019.
The murders had a profound impact on the
