President Harry S.Truman assassination attempt original photograph from 1950

This auction is for a first generation 6.5 x 8 inches photograph showing the failed attempt to kill the 33rd president of the United States. This historical picture is stamped twice on the back November 2, 1950 and shows a close up of one of the two gunmans.

It shows gunman Oscar Collazo gunned down at the bottom of the stairs where the president was at the time at the Blair house.

The second of two assassination attempts on U.S. President Harry S. Truman occurred on November 1, 1950. It was carried out by militant Puerto Rican pro-independence activists Oscar Collazo and GriselioTorresola while the President resided at Blair House during the renovation of the White House. Both men were stopped before gaining entry to the house. Torresola mortally wounded White House police officer Leslie Coffelt, who killed him in return fire. Secret Service agents wounded Collazo. President Harry S. Truman was upstairs in the house and not harmed.
