Description
This auction is for a copy of Underground Heavy Metal Fanzine Under The Blade Issue #9 that saw publication in 1996. To give him something to read and pass the time I sent a copy to Richard Ramirez. Ever the resourceful one it is highly suspect that Richard got inspired to duplicate and mass produce the cover artwork (which was actually done by one Russell W. Evans) probably in order to get some extra scratch. Compare and you be the judge.
The original work is the first one pictured and is in pen & ink, it was a take off of Iron Maiden’s sophomore record ‘Killers’ as interpreted and drawn by legendary underground artist of the day Russell W Evans. The reason it was done so is because in the issue both Nicko MacBrain, drummer of Iron Maiden, and at the time estranged vocalist Bruce Dickinson were interviewed for this particular issue. Other interviews include Death Metal act Ossuary Insane, Aphazael of Norwegian Black Metal band Ancient, Moe (RIP) then vocalist for Illinois Death Metal act Bodybag, Robert Deathrage of, and who is legendary Brown Metal originals The Meat Shits. 40 pages total.
