Biography and Background

Dellmus Charles Colvin was born on August 3, 1959, in Akron, Ohio. His early life appeared relatively normal; he grew up in a rural environment and had a typical childhood. However, during his teenage years, he began to experience conflicts with his mother and exhibited signs of antisocial behavior. Despite these issues, he participated in sports such as wrestling and football during high school.

After graduating from high school, Colvin pursued a career as a driver. He worked various driving jobs, including as a taxi driver in Atlantic City and its suburbs. Throughout the mid-1980s, he started to show more pronounced antisocial tendencies and became involved in criminal activities. His social skills deteriorated, leading him to associate more frequently with individuals engaged in prostitution.

Criminal Activities

Colvin’s criminal history began to escalate in the late 1980s when he moved to Ohio. He lived in several cities, including Swanton, Lima, Orient, and Toledo. In 1989, he faced legal troubles when he was arrested for assault and illegal possession of weapons. This led to a conviction that resulted in a 15-year prison sentence. After serving time, he was paroled in 1992 but violated parole shortly thereafter and returned to prison until his release three years later.

Colvin’s most notorious crimes occurred between 2000 and 2005 when he kidnapped and murdered at least six women across Ohio: Donna Lee White, 27 / Valerie Jones, 38 / Dorothea Wetzel, 40 / Jacquelynn Thomas, 42 / Lily Summers, 43 / Jackie Simpson, 33 / Melissa Weber, 37. Many of these victims were drug-addicted prostitues. His modus operandi included luring women under false pretenses before committing the murders.

Arrest and Conviction

Colvin’s arrest came about due to advancements in forensic science; specifically, DNA profiling played a crucial role in linking him to two murders. Following his arrest, he confessed not only to those murders but also admitted involvement in an earlier murder from 1987 that took place in New Jersey.

In total, Colvin is believed to have committed at least eight murders over nearly two decades. He is currently serving six life sentences at the Lebanon Correctional Institution for his crimes.

Claims of Additional Murders

In conversations with podcaster Phil Chalmers, Colvin claimed responsibility for the deaths of up to 52 women across the United States between 1983 and 2005. He provided details about one specific murder committed in LaSalle County, Illinois, where he allegedly dumped the victim’s body after killing her. Although authorities conducted searches based on his claims—resulting in the discovery of bones—they were ultimately determined not to be human.

Current Status

As of now, Dellmus Charles Colvin remains incarcerated and continues to serve multiple life sentences without the possibility of parole for his heinous acts against vulnerable women.
