Anthony "Big Tony" Moscatiello was an associate of the Gambino crime family and had ties to former Gambino boss John Gotti. “Big Tony” was convicted of first-degree murder in the 2001 slaying of a prominent Florida businessman, Konstantinos “Gus” Boulis, during a power struggle over a lucrative fleet of gambling ships. Evidence showed “Gus” Boulis was killed by a mob hit man, and that Moscatiello ordered the slaying.

The complicated story commences with the sale of the business from Boulis to Kidan.
The State's theory of the case was that Anthony "Big Tony" Moscatiello and Ferrari were hired by Adam Kidan to protect him from Boulis, from whom Kidan had purchased a business. For reasons somewhat unclear, Moscatiello determined that Boulis needed to be killed so that Moscatiello and Ferrari would not lose the protection payments from Kidan. "The guy (Boulis) was making a lot of problems with gambling in South Florida… There was a lot of money at stake. They needed this guy taken care of right away."
Authorities believed the hit was carried out by a mob associate named John Gurino who was killed back in 2003. Key evidence included calls made from Ferrari to Moscatiello who was at the time in New York along with testimony from other organized crime figures that Big Tony had approached them about getting rid of Boulis using hit-man John Gurino.
Anthony "Big Tony" Moscatiello was arrested at his Howard Beach home in New York on September 26, 2005. The jury found Moscatiello, 77, guilty of murder conspiracy in the shooting death of “Gus” Boulis, founder of a chain of casinos and Miami Subs restaurants. On July 1, 2015, Moscatiello was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. He was sentenced to life in prison.
Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis, a businessman, real estate developer, casino owner, and restaurateur of Greek descent, was assassinated in 2001.He was born on April 6, 1949, and died on February 6, 2001. It had been claimed that the murder was related to the sale of SunCruz Casinos, his business. Boulis was a huge fan of soccer and frequently flew in his private jet to watch Olympiacos FC play. Joe Sonken's Gold Coast Restaurant and Lounge, a storied mafia eatery in Hollywood, Florida, was purchased by Boulis in May 1994, and he converted it into a Miami Subs Grill. In 1999, he exchanged the Miami Subs Grill chain for $4.2 million worth of Nathan's Famous hot dogs.
In 1994, Gus Boulis took 300 of his Miami Subs Grill employees aboard a Las Vegas-style gambling ship for a party. This experience inspired him to purchase the “Sir Winston” for $2 million only a few days later, a 100-foot cruise ship which he rapidly converted into a casino ship. It was this that based the grounds for his new venture, which would ultimately result in his death. In September 2000, Boulis had agreed to sell SunCruz to Jack Abramoffi and Adam Kidanii for $147.5 million. In the deal Boulis kept a silent ten percent interest, accepting a $20 million promissory note in lieu of the $23 million cash down payment. This transaction later went on to be the focus of a grand jury inquiry.
On August 11, 2005, Abramoff and Kidan were indicted by a federal grand jury in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on fraud charges relating to the disputed $23 million bank transfer used as down payment for the purchase of SunCruz Casinos. Kidan pleaded guilty on December 15, 2005. Abramoff pleaded guilty on January 3, 2006.

On December 15, 2005, he pleaded guilty to fraud and conspiracy charges; as part of a plea bargain, four other felony counts against him were dropped. In March 2006, Kidan was sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison, the same sentence as Abramoff. He served 31 months in prison before being paroled in 2009.
