Wayne Williams signed photograph 8"×10"

This auction is for an 8"×10" signed photograph of convicted murderer and suspected "Atlanta Child Murderer" Wayne Bertram Williams. Between 1979 and 1981, a series of murders took place in Atlanta, Georgia. In that time period 28 victims turned up, mostly children, all with a seemingly similar modus operandi. On 5/22/1981, Wayne Williams became the focus of the task force investigating that series of murders. Police believed they heard a splash in the water as Williams drove his car over the James Jackson Parkway Bridge. The staked-out police believed the splash was Williams dumping a body. Public and political pressures grew for the police to make an arrest. Wayne Williams would be arrested on 6/1/1981. Despite the lack of concrete evidence Wayne Williams would be convicted of two murders on 2/27/1982 and sentenced to life imprisonment. In the aftermath of the trial police coercion of witnesses and Brady violations became apparent. Wayne Williams remains incarcerated having always maintained his innocence.
