Description

This auction is for a letter from California murderer Robert John Bardo. On 7/18/1989, Robert Bardo murdered actress Rebecca Schaeffer, shooting her in the doorway of her home. He obtained her home address after hiring a private detective, who simply got her address from the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Robert Bardo would be arrested the following day in Arizona, walking erratically in traffic. He would be convicted and sentenced to life without parole in 1991. On 7/27/2007, Robert Bardo was stabbed 11 times by a fellow inmate. He was treated out an outside hospital and returned to prison. Since the murder the United States federal government passed a law prohibiting the Department of Motor Vehicles from giving out home addresses upon inquiry.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The photograph is a color copy on paper, measuring 8.5"×11", and signed, "Robert J. Bardo." The missive is two pages on one sheet, dated 8/20/2006, and signed, "R. Bardo." The prescription bag is for Doxazosin. The 9"×12" original mailing envelope is postmarked 8/26/2006. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat with the envelope being folded once. Message me with any questions you might have.
