John Wayne Gacy letter/envelope 5/23/1993 EXECUTED

This auction is for a letter from executed Illinois serial killer John Wayne Gacy Jr, also known as The Killer Clown (3/17/1942 – 5/10/1994). Gacy was a highly profiled serial killer of young men and boys. He murdered at least 33 victims between 1972 and 1978, all of which took place in his home outside of Chicago. He would bury most of the bodies in a small crawl space, under the house. Sexual assault was the overall motive. Gacy was taken into custody on 12/21/1978, where he would confess to the series of murders, a confession he would later go back and forth on. He would be convicted on all 33 counts of murder and sentenced to death 3/13/1980. During his incarceration awaiting execution Gacy stated to paint, his self-portraits as "Pogo the Clown" soon became a desired collectible. Some would say Gacy's artwork started a trend that would become known as murderabilia. The case was largely celebrated in the media. His execution was carried out on 5/10/1994. His last words were, "Kiss my ass." He was 52.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is one page, dated 5/23/1993, and is signed, "John." Gacy has affixed a sticker to the top of the page, "Wish you were here." Gacy has also sent an article about a woman biting a man on this penis during oral sex, giving him 18 stitches. There's lots of artwork dealing talk here, too. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 5/24/1993. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat.
