Description

This auction is for a letter from Florida Dr. Asuncion Luyao, who had 11 patients overdose while under her care. In 2004, Dr. Luyan had a trail that ended in a hung jury. In 2006, the good doctor was found guilty of racketeering, five counts of trafficking oxycodone, and manslaughter relating to the death of one of her patients. She was sentenced to 50 years in prison and ordered to pay over a million dollars in fines. She started her sentence on 6/6/2006. In 2008, Dr. Luyao's sentence was overturned and she released from custody on 12/22/2008. In a plea agreement prosecutors dropped the manslaughter and racketeering charges and all but two of the trafficking charges. She was sentenced to a period of house arrest, barred from practicing medicine, 10 years of probation, and ordered to pay more than $100,000 in fines.
