In 2006, the good doctor was found guilty of racketeering, five counts of trafficking oxycodone, and manslaughter relating to the death of one of her patients. She was sentenced to 50 years in prison and ordered to pay over a million dollars in fines. She started her sentence on 6/6/2006. In 2008, Dr. Luyao's sentence was overturned and she released from custody on 12/22/2008.
