Dorothea Puente letter/envelope 5/17/2007 DECEASED

This auction is for a letter from deceased California female serial killer Dorothea Helen Puente (1/9/1929 – 3/27/2011). Between 1982 and 1988, Puente ran a boarding house for the elderly in Sacramento, California. After a tenant came up missing an investigation was launched. When the bodies began turning up, buried on the property of the boarding house, the more serious questions started getting asked. Seven bodies were found on the property and several tenants under Puente's care could not be located, despite their social security checks being cashed every month. Puente ended up being convicted of only a three murders and was sentenced to life without parole. Puente maintained those in her care died of natural causes, but later confessed to a family member it was her idea to steal the money. She never implicated any else involved in the apparent murder scheme, living true to the "convict code" of not snitching. She passed away of natural cause on 3/27/2011. She was 82. 

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is one page, dated 5/17/2007, and signed, "Dorothea." The envelope could be in better shape. The original recipient is from Texas, I guess that's just how they open their letters in them parts. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 5/18/2007 with a CENTRAL CALIFORNIA WOMEN'S FACILITY STATE PRISON stamp.
