This auction is for a hand tracing from executed Florida serial killer Danny Harold Rolling, also known as "The Gainesville Ripper" (5/26/1954 – 10/25/2006). Rolling went on a murder spree in August of 1990 killing five college students in Gainesville, FL. He raped several of his female victims and would often mutilate their corpses, decapitating one of them. The grisly scenes earned him his moniker. After being arrested on unrelated crimes, Rolling was linked to the murders and to triple homicide in Louisiana. Just before trial Rolling plead guilty to the series of Florida murders. He was sentenced to death on April 20, 1994. During his incarceration Rolling became well known for his artwork. He life and crimes were the subject of many books and true crime documentaries. His execution was carried out on 10/25/2006. Rolling was 52.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The right hand tracing is dated 3/16/1998, measures 9"×12", was folded twice when originally mailed, and signed, "Danny Rolling." The tracing is full of little doodles and what have you in Rolling's signature artwork style. The hand tracing comes inside a protective sleeve with an acid free board and has been stored flat.
