Aileen Wuornos letter/envelope 7/11/2001 EXECUTED

This auction is for a letter from executed Florida serial killer Aileen Carol Wuornos (2/29/1956 – 10/9/2002). Aileen Wuornos was a female serial killer who killed seven men from 1989 to 1990. She claimed during several trials that the killings were in self-defense, that her victims were would-be attackers and she the victim. Unfortunately for Wuornos, none of the members of any of her juries believed that story and she was sentenced to death on multiple counts. Her case was largely celebrated in the press and continues to be the focus of media coverage. Aileen Wuornos was executed 10/9/2002. Her last words were, "Yes, I would just like to say I'm sailing with the rock, and I'll be back, like Independence Day with Jesus. June 6, like the movie. Big mother ship and all, I'll be back, I'll be back." She was 46.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is two pages on two sheets, dated 7/11/2001, and is signed, "Aileen." Wuornos has signed her name, "Aileen Wuornos," and address at the top of the first page. There's lots of appeal discussion here, as Wuornos was working towards waiving her appeals in order to be executed. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 7/13/2001.
