This auction is for an extremely detailed pencil portrait by executed Texas serial killer Mr. Anthony Shore, also known as the "Tourniquet Killer" (6/25/1962 – 1/18/2018). In 1998 Shore was required to register as a sexual predator after being convicted of molesting his two daughters. That DNA file collected with his registration linked Shore to a decade old cold case. During his interview with police in relation to that homicide Shore confessed to three additional murders. He committed through the 1980's and 1990's in the Houston area. Shore earned his moniker as the "Tourniquet Killer" for strangling his victims with handmade tourniquets. Shore was ultimately convicted on only one murder and sentenced to death in 2004, a sentence he had requested. Shore was granted his request when he was executed on 1/18/2018. After making his final statement it's been loosely reported that as the lethal dose of pentobarbital was being pumped into his body Shore stated it "burned" and then said, "Oooh-ee! I can feel that," before losing consciousness. Shore was pronounced dead 13 minutes later. He was 55.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The portrait is simply amazing! There is really no other way to describe the artwork. The watermark does block some of the detail out. Sorry, that's just the way love goes sometimes. The piece was done on art paper, dated 2005, and signed, "T. Shore." There is a cover sheet Shore placed over the artwork which reads, "Art cover, please do not touch surface, thank you," with a smiley face. Shore has had his artwork "accidentally" ruined during the process of it being mailed in out of the prison. The artwork comes with the original mailing envelope. I've elected to list this piece with a $10 start bid, no reserve or BUY OUT price. While Shore was an exceptional artist, one of the best prison artists I've ever seen, he wasn't know for sending out lots of artwork. I purchased this piece years ago from another collector and have decided to offer it up now. Shore will not be receiving any of the profits from the sale of this drawing! The portrait and envelope come inside a protective Life magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat. Message me with any questions you might have. Thanks for having a look-see.
