This auction is for a letter from California serial killer and American true crime icon Mr. Charles Manson. Mr. Manson, an inmate who's notoriety has made him a household name worldwide, was convicted for his role in a series of nine murders that took place on four separation dates in July and August of 1969. The seven most infamous of those murders became known as the "Tate/Labianca Murders." In 1971 he was sentenced to death, which would later be reduced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole when the death penalty was temporarily abolished in the State of California. What set this case apart from others is its has never been established that Manson actually killed anyone. There have been many cases made to suggest factual innocence on behalf of Charles Manson. The case and Manson continue to captivate the public with documentary films and movies, literary works, and sensationalism in pop culture. Manson's autograph continues to be a sought after prize by collectors from all walk's of life. The letter is two pages on one sheet and doesn't appear to be signed. There is a printed letterhead with a photo of Manson and his mailing address. The missive opens with, "The witch said Charles you evil. I said you wicked. Her reply, your[sic] in hell. I said that's just the way you smell. This preast[sic] of dilemma." There are numerous references to J.F.K. throughout. A doodle by Manson with a swastika is on one of three additional sheets of paper with typed text of Manson's thought's on prosecutor Vincent "The Bug" Bugliosi. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 12/30/2005. Manson's return address is completely handwritten with the recipient's an address label.
