Fred and Rosemary West must go down in history as Britain’s most callous and ruthless murderers. They tortured, raped and murdered at least 12 young women and girls including their own children.
Take a look at Wikipedia/Fred West to see their dreadful catalogue of crimes.
Many of the victims were buried in the cellar of the ‘House of Horrors’ as it became known. Their daughter Heather was buried in the garden under a patio.
The police sealed the house during and after the investigation. In October 1996 it was demolished along with the adjoining property and the site was made into a pathway. Every brick was crushed and every timber burned to discourage souvenir hunters.
Before the house was demolished and towards the end of the police activity within it, I was working on the case for a national newspaper as a photographer. Arrangements were made for me to meet Stephen, West’s son in order to go into the ‘House of Horrors’. The place was boarded up and the only way to gain access was to get into the adjacent property which was empty, climb into the loft then cross over into the loft area of 25, Cromwell Street. Once there, we lowered ourselves down into the house.
(In England some old terraced houses did not have walls separating adjacent properties, 25, Cromwell Street was a case in question)
Stephen and I went into every room in the house. The only light we had was a hand torch and even this kept fading out. I had to take pictures in virtual total darkness. In the cellar I saw the beams where West hung his victims to perform bizarre sex acts. I also saw the concrete covered graves where he had buried
their remains.
When in the house with Stephen he asked me whether I wanted a souvenir. He pulled a lamp off the wall and handed it to me, and he also gave me a plastic identity card. This card had tape wrapped around the top of it to hide something. I didn’t remove the tape so I don’t know what it says.
The lamp is just as Stephen gave it to me – it even has the original bulb that would have lit up the ‘House of Horrors’.
The photographs are available as a download. There are 63 jpeg files of the inside, outside and of two of West’s children, Stephen and Mae standing outside 25, Cromwell Street before it was demolished. These pictures are not to be copied, resold or used without permission for any other purpose other than that of a collector. I own the copyright.
The wall light and the card are to be auctioned separately. These two items are unique and I imagine that they are the only 2 items left from the ‘House of Horrors’. Fred West’s DNA is probably still on the card !
If you purchase a set of the photographs or one or both items you will be gaining what nobody in Britain, the USA or the world could ever have – items from Britain’s most macabre and grisly murder scene of all time.
I, Rick Wilson swear that the photographs were taken by my hand and that the items, ie the light and the ID card are authentic and were given to me by Fred West’s son Stephen.
The wall light and the ID card are listed separately in the scene of crime artefacts category.
The 63 jpeg photographs download is in the photographs category.
