Description

First ever Pogo the Clown painting done by Gacy. He was hesitant to do a self portrait of himself as Pogo, as he focused more on old style clowns such as Bubbles and Flippo, etc. However, one of his very early penpals encouraged him to create a self portrait of him as Pogo and after much reluctance, Gacy created this painting and sent it to his early penpal. His early penpals were very important to him before his paintings became popular. This painting is 12x16 as opposed to the later mass produced Pogos that were all 14x18 inches, and in addition you can see the detail that went into the painting, the background foliage is much fuller, the details of his face, e.g. his teath and hand and buttons are much more intricate. He even has a button on his costume that reads "Reading Buttons is Dumb." Classic Gacy humor not seen in his later mass produced pieces. A MUST HAVE for a serious collectore. Free shipping in U.S.
